IDACS / NCIC

IDACS stands for Indiana Data and Communications System. IDACS serves as Indiana's connection to NLETS (National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System) and NCIC (National Crime Information Center). These three systems combine to give law enforcement agencies in the state and also in the country the ability to communicate in the most effective manner.

For our purposes, IDACS is a medium by which we make inquiries on license plates and drivers licenses. It also allows us to check to see if persons are wanted anywhere in the country and if a vehicle is stolen. Through IDACS we can send a message through NLETS to any other law enforcement agency in the country and in some cases, the world!
