In Case of Emergency

One of the difficulties long faced by emergency services personnel is how to locate next of kin for a victim who is unconscious, dead or otherwise unable to respond to questions. To help paramedics, police officers, emergency room staff, etc. you can program ICE into your cell phone's address book.

The idea is to preface a telephone entry in your cellular phone, PDA, or address book with "ICE" to help workers call the appropriate friends or family in case of an emergency.

"ICE - Mom" or "ICE - Husband" are two examples of how to enter a mother's or husband's phone numbers appear in your phone book for emergency personnel to quickly find them. Use more than one ICE entry in case someone is unavailable.
